About Memorial Mission Surgery Center
Memorial Mission Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We are fully committed to providing our patients with surgical excellence and quality care in a compassionate environment. Our board-certified physicians provide outpatient procedures for virtually all medical specialties, and our friendly, professional staff ensure the needs of patients and their families are met in a compassionate manner.
An ambulatory surgery center (ASC), which is also known as an outpatient surgery center is a facility where surgical and diagnostic procedures are performed that do not require an overnight hospital stay.
Using an ambulatory surgery center may result in cost savings to the patient or responsible party. Procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center are typically less complicated and less invasive than those that require longer recoveries in hospitals but cannot be safely performed in most physician offices. ASCs and hospitals often provide similar facilities and support similar types of procedures.
Today, many procedures that were once performed only in hospitals are performed in ambulatory surgery centers. In the US, over 50% of colonoscopies are now performed in ASCs. Common ASC procedures include knee surgery, shoulder surgery, gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, breast biopsies, tonsil surgery, sinus surgery and other orthopedic, gastrointestinal, ENT, and general surgeries.
Memorial Mission Surgery Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and is recognized for high-practice standards in the ambulatory health care environment. The Center is equipped with four large state-of-the-science outpatient surgical suites and a spacious gastroenterology suite. Convenient hours, easy access and a large, comfortable family waiting area make Memorial Mission Surgery Center an excellent alternative to hospital-based outpatient surgery.
